Steam Goes Down Worldwide! Website and Store Pages Suddenly Break

Steam is currently down. Many users are unable to access the platform through its website, while those who can open the Steam app report that only offline features are working at the moment.

Valve has not yet shared any details on what’s causing the problem, so there’s no clarity on how long the disruption will last.

The timing couldn’t be worse, as Steam is in the middle of its annual Winter Sale. With Christmas just around the corner, many users were likely planning to buy new games or redeem gifted titles.

Steam Is Down

Reports from users have been largely consistent, with many saying they are completely unable to access the Steam store. The outage also appears to be affecting the Steam Deck, meaning those hoping to relax and play games on the couch this evening may be left disappointed.

On PC, the Steam app itself is opening, but store pages are failing to load. Some users say they can still install games they already own, which offers a small bit of relief. However, players who depend on cloud saves may want to be cautious, as saving or loading progress could be unreliable while the issue continues.

As for the website, it’s completely inaccessible at the moment. There are also reports of problems with the mobile app, suggesting this is a widespread outage rather than a limited issue.

An update from Valve is still awaited. With the holiday season in full swing, it’s possible that a fix could take some time to roll out.

For now, all users can do is wait and hope Steam is back online soon. Or, alternatively, make a start on the Christmas dinner,  some people like to get ahead. Others might prefer heading out to the pub, which is exactly what this writer plans to do once the day wraps up.

Well, there are also a few hopeful fans suggesting that Steam might be down because Half-Life 3 is about to get a surprise release. That said, the current rumour doing the rounds is that the long-awaited game could launch alongside the Steam Machine. Fingers crossed that turns out to be true, otherwise, one of us may end up writing that story after a few pints instead.
