It all happened when Apple’s App Store finally decided to ban Fortnite. After this happened. Epic Games couldn’t resist it and in return, banned a horror game from its library.
Horses is basically a horror game which has been developed by the most popular Indie StudioSanta Ragione. The game revolves around a farm loaded with horses. And players can readilly ride on these horses.
Now, even before the game could release, Steam came forward and banned it mainly due to its content. Well, the decision that was primarily refused to reverse, even with a new build available for testing.
Now, the latest is that Epic Games is about to ban the game and is known to have taken the decision just 24 hours prior its launch. As per a message shared by its developer, Epic Games says that Horses has breached its content guidelines that any game is expected to do so.
It comes up with more frequent sexual behaviour. Also, the game shows content promoting abuse and animal abuse. Epic Games further says that the developer denies these allegations.
Horses Launches, Yet Still Missing From Steam and Epic Platforms
After the above controversy, Santa Ragione came forward to share its message on Epic Games. It shared the fact that content served in Horses is too “hateful” and “sexual” as per the Epic’s standards. It further claimed that the game would soon get an Adult rating. It’s a rating called ESRB which Epic doesn’t support.
On the other hand Santa Ragione has rejected all these allegations made by Epic. It says that Horses already has a rating of 18+ along with a mature rating of ESRB.
Additionally, neither ESRB nor PEGI has listed the game on their respective portals. In spite of this drama, Satna Ragione says that the game had already gone through its review process that didn’t pose any trouble.
Santa Ragione further stated that the game Horses doesn’t contain any kind of sexually explicit material of any nature. He also said that the game also didn’t contain any sort of instances related to sexual behaviour.
He said, “The game ensures that all nudity is fully pixelated, leaving nothing explicit on display. There are no sexual acts depicting genitalia, and animation choices are purposefully stylised rather than lifelike. Throughout its three-hour campaign, only four censored and very brief sexual sequences appear, two of which unfold mostly off-camera.”
Santa Regione further says that Epic has refused to coperate. It claimed that it happened on a previous occasion as well when Epic reviewed the game and never objected its content then.
By the way, you can still purchase Horses from GOG, Humble, and Itch. At present, it looks like these platforms won’t remove the game in the time to come. Also, GOG is known to have come in support of the developer.
Horses Game Release Date
It all happened in June 2023 when Horses was first announced during a Gaming event. Whilke the game was announced, a trailer was also released.
Earlier, the game had a 2024 release date but continued to get delay mainly because of some undisclosed reasons. Later the developers annoounced that the final release date of the game would be in 2025. The game Horses was finally released on December 2, 2025.
