As per the recent comment made by The Witcher 3 Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, games that are created using AI generally don’t have soul. He was having a conversation with Eurogamer.
He further commented on the burning topic of AI driven games development. According to him the above practice would simply replace all the creative workforce. It can help to some extent but can’t fully replace them.
On the other hand, Tomaszkiewicz has a belief that the inclusion of AI can really help the video game industry. And so, he’s not among those who neglect the idea of AI driven video game development.
He says that AI is just a tool that can readilly help us in the video game development process. He simply argues that AI just needs to help people and not here to replace them. In the end, AI should make the life of a developer easier.
Now, if you scrutinize all the above opinions, then I can relate the facts in the following manner. In the present age of game development, it takes longer and longer to create something that sooths the gamer. Sometimes, fans have to wait for many years to get the game of their choice.
Now, in that aspect, if they have a tool in the form of AI, it would not only reduces the time but also make the game loaded with all the fun and entertainment to play. But we hear stories where some developers are merely focussed on the generative side of AI to speed things.
Developers like AdHoc Studios and Tomaszkiewicz have clear mindsets to push the gaming industry in the right direction by taking the most ethical path.
