PS5 Slim Debuts In the U.S. Featuring Reduced SSD & Lower-Cost Components

Are you a real time gamer? If yes, then you might be interested to purchase games with desired specifications. What if you get these components at cheaper price?. As holidays are near, you can plan your purchases with some huge savings.

If you are planning to purchase a brand new PlayStation 5 during the upcoming holidays, you can go ahead via a dedicated PlayStation Direct portal. But before you purchase here is a piece of advice for you.

Once you land on the given portal, you need to double check all the minute details. It’s because the US version of PlayStation Direct is known to have comenced selling most of the previously leaked SKU that debuted in Europe sometime back.

As we mentioned above, you need to remain vigilant while purchasing the new SKU because it is quite different as compared to the existing PlayStation 5 Slim loaded with 1TB SSD on board.

Now, the new version has some different specifications as it comes with just 825GB. Interestingly, they didn’t change the price as the proposed cost in retail revolves around $499.99, despite the same storage capacity.

We gave a proper research before writing this article. While updating you about the same, we failed to find any other web portal except PlayStation Direct seeling the new SKU.

Other portals like GameStop and Best Buy are loaded with some active listings with 1TB SSD for PS5 Slim. They are selling at a price of $499.99. At this time, it is quite hard to accomplish the actual story of these retailers.

It’s because we still have no clue if these retailers will receive some new models after they sell out their existing stock. It’s also possible that the new model continues to be a PlayStation Direct exclusive.

PlayStation 5 Hardware Revision Uses Cheaper Parts, Offers Less Storage

As nobody tried the new hardware, most of us don’t have any updates regarding this. Stil, we can have some hope regarding this.

It happened last week when YouTuber Austin Evans took a chance to export PlayStation 5 Slim that was previously-European exclusive. After reviewing it, he created a detailed video regarding all the different changes regarding the new SSD size.

The YouTube video clearly reveals that the console is made up of cheaper material with a smaller SSD. Another change was noticed on the sides that replaced the existing glossy finish with a solid matte. Another modification can be seen in the heat sink, which has been redesigned to exclude any metal protection.

Although, it would cost less for Sony to produce such a lighter console, the above savings don’t really seem to have been going in favor of the end consumer. It’s mainly because gamers are directed to pay the same amount for the console which is bad in quality.

Please note that the above revision is not the only planned change happened to the PlayStation hardware. It’s also being predicted that PS5 Pro will shortly get a new SKU. Elsewhere, a redesigned DualSense controller may launch with a battery that can be taken out and replaced with an ease.
